The Parish of Somerby is located in East Leicestershire close to the border with Rutland and comprises the villages of Burrough on the Hill,Leesthorpe, Pickwell and Somerby.

The surrounding countryside is very attractive and is often referred to as 'High Leicestershire'. This is because much of the Parish is several hundred feet above sea level and there are often superb views to be found. Although predominately a rural community there are a significant number of successful business enterprises in the local area.

Where do we get our money from?
Each year a sum of money called a 'precept' is collected through your council tax. This money is used by the council to improve facilities and services for local people. We can also apply for grants and loans and, where we own property, can receive money from rents or leases.
